About Ashley Ramos

I currently live in Bradley, Ill. but my story starts in Chicago Heights, born at St. James Hospital. I grew up living in Momence and attended St. Patrick’s Academy until I was 10 years old. My family then moved to Danforth, Ill. and I went to Iroquois West until I was 14 years old.

As a youth growing up, I voluntarily committed my summers to community service at nursing homes in Dallas, Texas, and played softball for two years on a summer league while visiting my dad. To this day, I strongly believe in being with people in community and helping those who need it the most.

I graduated from Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School in 2005 and started taking classes for radiology at Kankakee Community College for Radiology, a plan that came to a halt when I became pregnant with my precious son Cameron born in 2007. Although being a single mom wasn’t easy, our faith, love and perseverance carried us through the hard times.

I worked for an insurance company until I became the e-commerce specialist at my current job in 2019.

I started a non-profit called Back the Blue Events in response to the riots that plagued our state and Congressional district in the summer and fall of 2020. I traveled all over the state and country, including Chicago, Milwaukee, Kenosha, Philadelphia, DC, Nashville, and was at almost every major riot bringing aid and assistance to the police and first responders, who I believe are our first line of defense!

I marched with my friend Ann Dorn in the first peace march of St. Louis, Mo. in honor of her husband David Dorn, 77, a retired police captain who was brutally murdered by a leftwing rioter when he was standing in as security of a friend’s business in June 2020.

Today, I also volunteer with SIS ministries to help people with addiction issues, homeless, and kids in homes with parents who are currently incarcerated.
