About MCA:

Midwestern Christian Academy
The founders of Midwestern Christian Academy believed that the education of children and youth should be a process of building wisdom and character out of the knowledge and skills they learn every day in the classrooms where they are preparing to be good citizens, family providers and productive employees. By connecting the knowledge and skills they are learning as students to the education they are receiving, a school can provide instruction to the “whole child,” including their spirit and soul, in order to undergird and support their Christian faith and help them prepare to be good “kingdom citizens” as well.

For over 60 years, Midwestern Christian Academy has been providing a Christ-focused, Biblically-centered education to meet the needs of families who share the belief that God is the creator and sustainer of the universe and has provided us with the means to “train up children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” The school currently serves families in grades Junior Kindergarten 3 through 8th grade. Our focus and philosophy can be described as follows:

Distinctively Christian
Our school philosophy connects the objectives of each subject area to a Christian worldview. Biblical principles are not separate from other subjects, they are the means by which God has given us to measure and understand truth, so they are put in their proper perspective in all subject areas.

The school is inter-denominational in its perspective, with families in the school community representing over 40 local churches, both those affiliated with denominations as well as many non-denominational churches. All of our faculty and staff are individuals who acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Savior and who are an active member of a local church. Each student has a dedicated Bible class each day and is part of a corporate worship experience with classmates each week.

Academically Excellent
We believe doing our best is pleasing to God. Our academic program is rigorous, challenging students to achieve at a pace that is above average. We want our students to be well prepared. We assess our academic progress with a nationally-based achievement test each year and our students score well above the grade-level expectations of the test. Our graduating eighth graders are admitted to a wide variety of high school programs including many of the special emphasis programs in Chicago Public Schools, charter schools and other Christian high schools.
